'Brave New Worlds (Becoming Angels)'
Brave New Worlds (Becoming Angels)
Presented by KOOP Projects, a Brighton-based gallery supporting creative projects that emphasise the role of contemporary African art and artists as a dynamic source for learning and change. The gallery promotes sustainable art practices through an interrogation of materiality and the contexts in which African artists make and show their work.
“We should long ago have become angels had we been capable of paying attention to the experience of art, and allowing ourselves to be changed in accordance with the ideals it expresses”- Andrei Tarkovsky
Recent events have us balancing on the edge of uncertain futures, reckoning with personal and collective histories. For a brief moment, we invite you to press pause on what seems an unstoppable retreat into a world of isolating digital meta-realities and join us for an evening of art from artists across Africa and the diaspora in London. Each of these artists in their own incisive and insightful way, seeks sustaining, nourishing and truthful connections with our planet and each other.
